The Friends of Boyd Hill are seeking individuals interested in serving on our Board of Directors. Applications will be accepted through May 31st.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Qualified candidates must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Maintain active FOBH membership status
  • Have a demonstrated love and respect for Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Other desirable skills:

  • Are you a tech-savvy self-starter interested in helping to maintain our web presence? We’re looking for someone to keep our website and membership database fresh.
  • Is event planning and fundraising your jam? We need someone ready to help carry the torch for RaptorFest, our signature fundraiser.
  • Do you have a knack for writing, proofreading, and organizing electronic information? Our long-time secretary is looking to contribute to the organization in other ways. We need someone to take on managing our print/electronic correspondence and our shared Google Drive.
  • Are you on the inside track with South St. Pete public schools? We need a volunteer to champion spreading the word about our camp scholarship and field trip sponsorship programs.

THE COMMITMENT

FOBH Directors are elected to serve a two-year term and are expected to attend at least 9 of the 12 meetings held each year.

Board meetings are held at Hammock Hall (3010 31st St S, St. Petersburg, FL 33712) on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00PM.

FOBH Directors are also expected to actively participate on at least one committee and represent the Friends at community events, including RaptorFest, our signature fundraiser.

WHO WE ARE

Do-gooders who love Boyd Hill Nature Preserve and Florida’s wild places. We are serious about service, but with a laid-back style.

Our goal is to provide financial and volunteer support to protect and promote the Preserve. Examples of our work include hosting member appreciation events, providing camp scholarships, funding environmental education exhibits, underwriting the Natural History Speaker Series, and supplementing the Bird of Prey program. Although we work closely with the City of St. Petersburg, we do not own or manage the Preserve and its programs.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

Email a resumé and statement of interest to brigid@friendsofboydhill.org. Please include your name, phone number, email address, and a brief biography. The statement of interest should tell us what you know about what we do and how you think that your unique attributes can further the mission of the Friends. Examples of a time when you demonstrated personal initiative and follow-through are appreciated.

Applicants will participate in a casual interview with a current Board Member and are encouraged to attend a Board meeting on May 18 (meeting being held at Hops 2.0, 225 2nd Ave. N.) or June 15. Those recommended by the Nominating Committee will be considered by the general membership during the August election and inaugurated at the Annual Planning Meeting in September/October 2023.
